The first thing that I noticed with this model is that it’s super easy to clean up. I have had my fair share of grind and brew coffee makers, and I’m used to always having to clean at least seven parts of the machine everytime. Compared to other blade style grind and brews, the noise produced by this model is significantly lower. Sure, it still makes quite a loud noise (which is common among coffee makers of this kind) but my kids said they like this a lot better – I used to use my old grind and brew machine to wake them up every morning.

I love the thermal carafe’s function, although I’m not crazy by how it looks. First, the function: you just have to activate a thumb button to pour and the flow rate is very good. There’s minimal chance of spilling the coffee on your counter. The look: I would have loved for it to look a little more contemporary. The backlit LCD display is great for people who have bad eyes like me. I don’t usually wear glasses first thing in the morning, and I love the fact that I could easily see what’s on the display even without them.

I can’t say enough about this machine. I bought this baby about 3 weeks ago and I could not be happier. Let me start by simply saying this combination grinder/brewer makes the BEST COFFEE I’ve ever tasted out of a home machine. And, after all, isn’t that the most important thing? There are multiple user available tool to change the coarsness of the grind, the amount of grounds that enter the filter, and the “aroma” of the overall process. If you like strong coffee the 10 setting, even with a full pot, is as strong as any cup of Starbucks I’ve ever had. If you like “weaker coffee” you can can simply reduce the amount of beans you use. So, for coffee taste and flexibility/adjustability this machine gets an A+

Probably the next most important thing is the appearance. We looked at the Coffeeteam Therm – I really liked the idea of the grinding process being separated from the brewing process. That seemed important to avoid the problem the Cuisinart’s have where the brewing process seems to gum up the grinding area (more on this in a bit). The problem with the Coffeeteam therm is it’s not such a good looking machine. I also thought there was a high likelihood of having to clean up grounds off the counter every morning. Anyway, this machine is very sharp looking. Some folks have complained that it puts out a lot of steam and to be sure there is steam (as with any coffee maker). We don’t have ours under a cabinet so it’s no problem. But even if you are going to put this under cabinet again, I’m not sure it puts out that much more steam than any other coffee maker…maybe a little. So, looks, at least in our kitchen – solid A!

It seems that everyone who writes a review for a high-end coffee maker is either a condescending twit or an utter dipshizzle. I hope I can find a middle ground (utter twit?) to help you decide to buy the Bunn STX coffee maker.

The initial set up of this coffee maker is easy. My initial impression of the coffee maker is that it is simple, sturdy, and well made. Most of the components are stainless steel, including the funnel basket, the thermal carafe and the tank. The lid to the thermos is well-made, with clear arrows indicating the quarter-turn to tighten the lid. There are no leaks, fluid pours out quickly, and maybe a tablespoon of coffee is left in the bottom when you pour the last cup. There is only one “vacation” switch that controls the tank heater: on or off. To brew coffee you slide shut the lid of the water inlet–after the thermal carafe is replaced under the funnel, which might be contrary to your current routine.

Initially, you must prime the tank heater with water before you can make your first batch. The instructions were clear and this was easy. A pot of coffee truly takes less than three minutes to brew with the machine’s preheated water. This coffee maker is supposed to be left on so that it keeps the water in the tank at 200 degrees at all times; if you choose to turn off the pot to save electricity, it takes approximately 10 minutes to heat the water again. The machine is somewhat loud when it is actively heating cool water, but when the heater turns off you know the water is ready. A second pot of coffee can be made immediately, as long as you have emptied the thermos.

Because the machine brews so quickly, there is no need for a “pause brew” feature. Because it brews into a thermos, there is no need for a plate warmer. Because this coffee pot is intended for coffee aficionados who appreciate fresh-ground beans, there is no clock or timer. Because there’s not a bunch of gizmos to flake out, this coffee pot does one thing and does it WELL. As such, Bunn offers a three-year warranty. Me likey.

First, I love the fact that this model is very easy to use. Placing the filter on the support is not hard, except that you have to make sure that the handle goes in front of you and not to the side. This makes the water distribute effectively into the coffee.

The machine is powered by a single switch, which has a light that stays on following brewing. Although the machine doesn’t have a timer, I don’t find it a problem. I’m the kind of coffee lover who prefer grinding fresh and brewing with fresh water when I wake up. Having a chamber full of stale water overnight is not really my thing, and that’s what you have when you prefer setting the machine to brew before you even wake up.

Some people are not impressed that this machine has plastic parts, but I think the fact that it doesn’t use polycarbonates on any of these parts is impressive enough. When repeatedly used, the Bisphenol A found in polycarbonates were shown to enlarge the reproductive organs in female mice overtime. While there are no proven health effects on human, there are warnings concerning repeated use of polycarbonates.

Overall, I think the weakest part of the Technivorm Moccamaster Coffee Brewer is the stainless-steel carafe. While the carafe that came with the machine is great for keeping coffee hot for a long time, I have an issue with the pouring. Since the lid has no dimple, the liquid can spread across the lip and cause spilling. I was able to solve this problem simply by opening the lid a little and then pouring the coffee slowly.

I love coffee. For the past year, I’ve been immersed in the technical and chemical artistry (and it truly is) of home roasting my own coffee and perfecting the brewing process to take advantage of total control and total freshness. Up to now, I’ve made my single cups using a thermostatically controlled water kettle and a cone drip device which allows me to control the “steep” time of the water at the proper temperature. But what to do when guests come over?

The overwhelming consensus is that the TechniVorm (TV) is the Rolls Royce of batch coffee makers. I got one as a gift and I agree.

We all know that cheap coffee makers cannot supply brewing temperature water at the desired 203F. My Mr. Coffee, for example, was 169F at the brewhead. More on this in a minute.

The coffee maker comes assembled and requires only that the brewhead wand, filter basket and covers be installed. The water chamber is clear plastic with cup level markings on the side. I have not measured the “cup” volumes yet but I suspect they are consistent with a 6 oz. cup size. The coffee measure with the TV is said to make two cups per scoop, which is fairly accurate as a starting point. The filter basket, basket cover and water chamber cover are black plastic. The brewhead wand is stainless steel.

The TV is simple enough to use. Placing the filter basket on a plastic support is a no-brainer except that it helps to notice that the handle should go in front facing you, not to either side. This is because the basket is wedge shaped at the bottom to accommodate the #4 cone filters used, and the brewhead wand is designed to distribute water along the length of the bottom wedge. There are nine holes in the brewhead which distribute water effectively onto the coffee.

If there’s one thing that I’m not too fond of this model, it’s that the espresso comes out at pretty much the perfect temperature. That shouldn’t be a problem, except that I prefer my espresso scalding hot. For the quality of the espresso though, I don’t mind looking over this minor flaw.

I got this model because my best friend got it as a gift from her mother-in-law, and said she’s more than willing to get another one of these if her current one gets broken. She’s got it for more than two years now and didn’t have one minor problem with it. Following her advice and getting the Nespresso Citiz Aeroccino is the best decision I’ve ever done in my life. Sure, it’s quite expensive compared to other coffeemakers but it sure does cover my expense of getting an espresso from cafes every day.

Let me first say that I did a lot of research before buying the Nespresso CitiZ with Aeroccino. In this price range, everything I read pointed me to this machine. I have been using the machine for one month now.

My reactions after one month:
(1) Very solid, well-made machine. There is not one part of this machine that feels or looks cheap.
(2) The espresso shots and longer shots the CitiZ pulls and pours are delicious. Beautiful crema, full enticing bouquet (if I may be so lame to use that word).
(3) Experiment with a wide variety of Nespresso capsules. My favorite is the Ristretto (10–strongest), but I also like the 9 and eight. The machine comes with a full sampler. Pay close attention to which ones you really like and which ones are merely meh.
(4) Espresso capsules for this machine can be purchased only via the Nespresso Club online. Capsules are 55 cents each and you have to order at least 50 at a time. 2-day shipping is the cheapest they offer and it’s $6.95. Their shipping is FAST. You don’t want to run out of capsules, but if you do, you won’t be shaking for too long. :)
(5) Rinse out the machine regularly. It’s a painless process that is explained in the user manual. I have some descaling powder on its way to me in the mail as I type this, so I can’t give any feedback yet about the descaling process.
(6) I recommend changing the water in the reservoir each day. The fresher the water, the better the shot.

It’s very easy to use too, and it allows you full control over the machine through the following: a knob for adjusting the amount of coffee in a cup – very useful when you prefer double shots, a steam-function button, temperature-ready light, an alarm light and a power “on” light.

The Saeco 4045 also has a built-in burr grinder, which allows the user to adjust the fineness level of ground coffee. Now, noise (a lot of it) is expected when we talk about burr grinders, but not this one. While it does create sound, it’s quieter compared the other models I had over the years.

If you love espresso but your spouse prefer cappuccino or latte, don’t fret because this machine can make them as well. You can even make tea in it, giving you more options compared to other brands.

The part that people loved most about this is its ease of use. We bought an Incanto Sirius at twice the price. It looked Marvelous with it’s stainless and digital exterior. It cleaned it’s self and did interesting tricks with the display. Then on the third day it went bizerk and consumed a full hopper of Lavazza Oro without delivering a single cup of coffee. The seizure was fatal and the machine could not deliver another cup. Oh did it hurt being coffeeless after those three days of pleasure with the cost of a short vacation.

Returning the Incanto Sirius to the store, I came home with the Viena Plus. It is a little plasticy looking and the tray does not click into place the way the Incanto did. There is a blinking green light to indicate that the machine is warming instead of an LCD temperature indicator. There is only one boiler that has to be shared for seam and brewing. It is somewhat Spartan in fact.

I’ve heard some people complaining because the steamer arm doesn’t bend and this makes milk spill. Everybody seems to have this complaint, and I did too until I realized that it’s not a problem when you remember not to overfill the milk container.

For machines like these, there shouldn’t really be an auto-off feature. When you make espresso, the timing is different every time as the water pumps through. Besides, the machine doesn’t have a way of knowing if you want to make a single or a double shot.

I’ve also realized that the steam nozzle does leak, but only if you don’t put the lever back to the closed position all the way. I have had a DeLonghi EC702 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Maker for years and I never had a problem with it. Sometimes, the problem is not with the product but on how much the owner knows about using it.

After purchasing and returning a cheap Mr. Coffee steam espresso machine that produced nothing close to a real espresso, I decided to get serious about finding a solid “entry-level” espresso machine. I did an exhaustive (ie: ridiculous) amount of research, reading reviews at a myriad of sites, comparing prices, talking to friends who consider themselves “espresso experts”, etc. What I found first is that you will never find 100% agreement on a given machine. Second, you have to establish your price range. It does seem that with espresso machines, the more you’re willing to pay, the more you get, either in features, design, longevity or performance. For me, despite my friend raving about his newest $700 “it does everything except read the paper to you” machine, as a first time home machine buyer, I wanted to limit my first expenditure. So I set a max budget at $250 and learned about every possible option.

I won’t go through the reasons I didn’t buy other machines and it is possible that many I chose not to buy would have been perfectly good. What I will tell you is that thus far, about 3 months and 100+ espressos later, I am extremely happy with my DeLonghi EC702. The bottom line is that it produces a perfect crema with a rich taste. The steaming wand, though not perfectly designed, works well and I can make excellent Lattes. I feel it is important to add that like any machine, it takes some practice to produce the perfect espresso. There are so many human variables that come into play – how long to let the pump run, proper warm-up time, type of coffee, the grind, how much you compact/tamp the coffee, etc. – that no two people will get the same results. However, the performance of this machine has been flawless. I have not experienced any leaks or problems. I have followed the instructions carefully from the first use, kept it properly cleaned and it has rewarded me with a great cup every day.

One popular feature of the Keurig coffee machine is its ability to delight coffee lovers by offering all kinds of flavors of coffee in single cup K-cup filters. Arguably, the flavor is not as fresh or intense as grinding flavored beans at home – but it still delivers great quality while allowing you to brew one cup at a time.

Its size is one of the biggest complaints form users. So you simply need to understand that this machine brews one cup at a time. It does not brew a pot. This makes it ideal for single people, couples, or families who don’t ever want to brew a whole pot.

This can actually save you money if you buy beans in bulk, and grind them just before you want to use them.

Another feature that we like about this this coffee machine is the system timer which will allow you program its start time. If you’re the only morning coffee drinker in the house, you can have your cup ready when you wake up and you don’t need to have a whole pot of old coffee for the rest of the household.

The B-70 single cup coffee machine also sports a much sleeker look with its silver color which makes it look great in any type of kitchen especially one that comes with a stainless steel design.

Some users on the other hand complained about several things in the B-70 single cup coffee machine. One complaint is the price. For about $200, some people think it should be higher quality. I don’t really understand the complaint. This is a great machine for people who want a single-cup machine. Other people complain that the K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter is an added accessory. Guess what? It’s under $20. Just deal with it.

Some users also complained about their unit that appears to be not working in just a matter of weeks’ use. But this type of complaints has been minimal and seems to be due to customers going a long time between machine uses. The water pump just needs to re-prime itself, which is accomplished by powering the unit on and off a few times. It’s an easy fix.
